![]() ![]() When I scan the document in Mellel for citations I get as the final format "Wolfgang Herrndorf: Diesseits des Van-Allen-Gürtels. But the interim format is set, like Ori wrote, under Preferences/Scan&Bib/Copy Citation/Cite by.įor example, I have set Cite by to "content" and get "Herrndorf, 2007, Diesseits des Van-Allen-Gürtels" (author, publishing year, title). ![]() The final citation format is set – like you did – under Bib/Format Manager. You do not get the final citation right now at the moment you drag a citation from Bookends to Mellel! What you get in the first step is an interim citation that does not necessarily look like the final citation. It is very important to understand that the interaction between Bookends and Mellel is a two-step method. The light blue highlighting indicates that Mellel recognizes this as a special citation element, a placeholder for the final citation you will get later when you scan the citations in Mellel. Or at least this is the default in Bookends' preferences under Scan & Bib you can chose Temporary delimiters.īut when you drag an item from a Bookends database into Mellel (even if the wordprocessor in Bookends’ preferences is not set to Mellel) you should get a citation without these brackets but highlighted light blue. (Bierschenk 1988: 34) but all I get when I drag and drop the reference from the database of Bookend is the full reference, like (. I think you can access any format(s) you have enabled in the Bookends Formats Manager (Biblio menu).Bastelwastel wrote:Hello there, I am a pure mellel-beginner and have a problem to insert citations into my text from bookends. On the floating bar, don’t overlook the drop-down next to the insert button (left of the search term text). for instance in Tinderbox8, I’m able to import my usual LaTeX citation: \citeīut that format is set at the bbee end of this. Exactly what you insert from the command bar is a matter of configuration. I can confirm the feature opens in both Tinderbox and Mellel 5. By default this is the Control key, but in preferences (Scan & Bib tab) you can assign any of these keys: Shift, Control, Option, Command, and Caps Lock. You can access your reference library at any time from any application (typically a word processor) via a floating window that is invoked by double tapping a trigger key. Pertinent part for later readers of the thread ( my italics): The feature is cool and after further dogging, you have to go to the Bookends manual, on page 44 (v13.5.3 manual). Jon, the developer, has always (In my experience) been very responsive and his forum is polite and helpful.Īh, I’ve found this page on the Bookends site, but I can’t invoke it on my Mac (FWIW, macOS 10.14.6). But do check out the Bookends support forum or the Tech Support. Assuming that is the case, you want to make a custom format in the Bookends’ Biblio → Formats Manager. I think the issue is making the floating box use the right, i.e. I’ve looked for ‘floaty box thing’ by Help isn’t helping. But, as with Tinderbox, we don’t worry about such limitations as we can make our own. Furthermore the format you want may bot be built in. So, I’m not sure what the above feature is, but I will bet it uses the currently selected export format on Bookends. As you know, Bookends has a nice feature: a short window from which one can easily insert references on the fly, which is very useful when you work in the field of humanities. ![]()
